This RG gunpla of the RX-78-2 Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam features a new design take on the classic mobile suit with enhanced surface details and a more mechanical focus giving the impression of a more realistic looking machine when complete.
The inner frame for this gunpla kit has been completely redesigned compared to the original real grade kit. Inspired by semi-monocoque engineering the structure replicates that seen in real world aircraft resulting in an convincing inner frame.
RG The RX-78-2 Gundam comes with its primary equipment load out, this includes the beam rifle, hyper bazooka, two beam sabers with clear effect parts and shield. All of the Gundam's included equipment can be stored on the mobile suit. There is an attachment point on the back skirting armour that can be used to store the Hyper Bazooka or the Beam Rifle. The Beam Saber hilts can be attached to the backpack. There is also an attachment point on the back side of the shield that can be used for storing the beam rifle.
The joints of the model kit feature design decisions that allow for bending at the correct points of the mobile suit. This results in a finished model that resembles an actual scaled down mobile suit instead of a toy. The legs are based on the Melee MS Gundam and employ composite frame joints to retain a human-like silhouette even when posed.
The inner frame is highly detailed, even featuring details that will ultimately be hidden by final armour plating when completed. Care has been taken to eliminate conspicuous mounting holes resulting in a seamless design that could be displayed even without the outer armour attached.
The RX-78-2 head features complex colour separations that has been meticulously reproduced using pre-coloured moulded parts. Even the smallest details have been moulded and captured in plastic such as the twin eyes, main cameras, magazine drum and cheek ducts.
Panel lining featured on the model has been divided into functional blocks. They have been designed with the actual dividing lines of the panels in mind.
The exterior armour design is a modern update that still retains the classic original design of the RX-78-2 Gundam, it not only adds fine details but also remains true to the original geometry of the mobile suit, perfectly capturing the edges and curves of each part. The white of the main body is made up of two-tone moulding colours, which fully expresses the amount of panelling and increase the depth of volume as a complete model.
The included Core Fighter is fully transformable into the Core Block for use within the mobile suit. Not only does it fully reproduce the fighter jet form but the compact core block also adds a newly developed joint into the torse of the mobile suit allowing for enhanced posing.
An original RG gimmick is the mechanism that allows the chest armour covering the cockpit to open and close up and down.
